Classroom and Driving Policies ?

CLASSROOM (32 Hours)

Each class and driving time is 2 hours long. Classroom hours will be at the same time each day. Depending on the schedule you choose, you will participate in a 3 week class Monday-Friday and one Saturday morning on the third week. Or if you take a fall class, you will attend a 4 week class Monday-Thursday.

DRIVING (7 hrs Driving, 7 hrs Observation In-Car)

You will have 7 lessons, 2 hours per lesson(1 hour Drive, 1 hour Observation). Up to 2 Drive times are allowed per month during peak seasons, additional drive times may be scheduled bases on schedule availability.

Drive Time Scheduling Process:

• Click on Schedule Drive Time Account Setup
• Follow Step 1 & Step 2
• Must Select the Correct Business Name based on the location you are enrolled at.
• Student will be able to start scheduling, once DFW approves the account.
• Driving Schedule opens up every Last Day of the month (5PM for Plano and 7PM for Frisco). Additional Driving Lessons are released throughout the month. If the calendar is full, please check back often for new openings.
• Student must appear for drive time 5 minutes early, with valid and original Learner Permit. Must wear eye glasses/contact lenses if have restriction A on permit.

DRIVING LESSON CANCELLATION POLICY:

When you schedule a driving lesson, you are reserving a car and an Instructor. If you need to change or cancel a drive time you must sign into your Drive Time Reservation account and cancel your drive time online. If you need to change or cancel a drive time you must do it online at least 24 hours in advance. Drive Times cancelled within less than 24 hours will incur a $35.00 no show fees.

CLASS MAKE-UP

A student may miss a total of 5 days of classroom without being dropped from the course (this is a Texas law) Each missed class must be made-up.

Example : If a student misses Lesson 6 they can make up day 6 when the next scheduled class begins. You can visit our Make Up Classes page for a list of make up dates and times. You have 180 days from the date you started class to complete all makeup work. If you do not complete the makeup work TEA requires us to cancel the student’s permit.

CONTRACT EXPIRATION DATE

Students have 180 days (6 months) to complete the course. This includes the classroom, make-up lessons and behind-the-wheel. The 180 day start date will be from the first day of class. (This is a Texas Education Agency rule). Failure to complete all driver education requirements within the contract term will result in the contract being cancelled. The parent may elect to purchase a contract extension, therefore providing additional time to complete the incomplete course requirements.

Contract Extension for Drive Times & Makeup Classes

• 1 to 2 driving lessons=30 day extension $35.00
• 2 to 4 driving lessons=90 day extension $75.00
• 5 to 7 driving lessons=120 day extension $90.00
